Talbot Arts Council Makes Grants for Local Arts Program

The Talbot County Arts Council has approved Community Arts Development Grants to 36 local organizations for arts-related programs and projects during fiscal year 2019 (July 2018 through June 2019). The budget for these programs is the highest-ever annual total of $80,000, made possible by a just-announced increase in the Arts Council’s own state grant of 5 percent to $124,250 for this year.

The recipients of this year’s grants are:

Major Arts Organizations Based in Talbot County

• Academy Art Museum, Inc., for a general operating grant for FY 2019

• Avalon Foundation, Inc., for a general operating grant for FY 2019

• Chesapeake Music, Inc., for the Chesapeake Chamber Music Festival during June 2-16, 2019, and Jazz on the Chesapeake’s Monte Alexander Jazz Festival during August 30-September 1, 2019

• Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, Inc., for seven concerts in Easton and at Chesapeake College during September 2018-April 2019

• Allegro Academy, Inc., for Allegro Children’s Chorus and Vocal Scholars during 2018-2019; Summer Songs at Trinity Cathedral on on July 27, 2018; and a spring concert series during March-May 2019

The Talbot County Arts Council’s next regular grant cycle will be for Arts-in-Education Grants to local elementary and secondary schools during 2018-2019. This will be announced in August with an application cutoff of September 30. Requests for Mini-Grants of up to $500 are accepted by the Arts Council at any time, with decisions and cash awards if appropriate the following month.
