A self-portrait by Wilmington artist Lauren E. Peters who will be teaching “The Self-Portrait: Oil Painting” workshop at the Rehoboth Art League – Contributed PhotoREHOBOTH BEACH, DE- – Come to the Rehoboth Art League and delve into the art of the self-portrait. In the workshop “The Self-Portrait: Oil Painting” on Saturday, August 25, 2918 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., participants will receive an introduction into the self-portrait and contemporary figure painting through the lens of the instructor, Lauren E. Peters, the 2018 Delaware Division of the Arts Fellowship for painting winner in the “Emerging Artist” category. Lauren is also a studio artist at the Delaware Contemporary in Wilmington. Following Lauren’s methods, intermediate oil painters attending the workshop will work from a photograph to create their own self-portraits. They will be encouraged to approach their work from a non-traditional perspective: rooted in traditional portraiture but with a more modern take on color and representation. The cost of the workshop is $100 for members and non-members.
