PRESTON — Provident State Bank, with banking locations across the Mid-Shore, recently pledged funds to support hospice and grief support services in Caroline County through Compass Regional Hospice’s current capital campaign.
Provident State Bank made a commitment of $25,000 over the next five years, with an additional challenge to its employees, officers and directors to potentially match with additional monetary annual contributions, partially with a portion of the bank’s “Blue Jeans Day” money.
Compass Regional Hospice provides hospice services to Caroline County residents wherever they call home, including private residences, nursing homes and assisted living facilities. The organization also is exploring opportunities within the county for partnerships and possibilities that will enable it to open a residential around-the-clock hospice care facility in the future.

Provident State Bank joins other well-respected community companies with financial support for Compass Regional Hospice’s current capital campaign, such as Tri-Gas and Oil, Accounting Strategies Group and Preston Ford.
Compass Regional Hospice Executive Director Heather Guerieri said, “We are honored by Provident State Bank’s leadership commitment to our organization and we are especially humbled by the bank’s employees’ commitment to raise part of the pledge through an annual employee fundraising effort called ‘Blue Jeans Day.’ Our new engagement with Provident State Bank offers an opportunity for us to support their employees through greater education and understanding of hospice care and grief support services, as well.”
Part of Provident State Bank’s “Blue Jeans” funds will be donated to Compass Regional Hospice, which will cover unfunded patient care expenses and grief support services offered by the organization. Compass Regional Hospice relies on community support to fund 30 percent of its operating budget. No one is turned away from receiving hospice care and grief support services based on an inability to pay, and grief support services are offered to individuals, families and the community regardless of whether or not they have been served in the past by Compass Regional Hospice.
Guerieri said the organization is “deeply grateful” for strong working relationships with companies throughout its regional coverage area of Queen Anne’s, Kent and Caroline counties.
“A number of corporate leaders and business owners are active on Compass Regional Hospice’s Board of Directors and play a critical role in ensuring the organization’s management and financial well-being,” Guerieri said.
Companies from all three counties are active sponsors and participants in Compass Regional Hospice’s annual gala, golf tournament, fundraiser for Camp New Dawn and more recently, its historic capital campaign.
Currently, Compass Regional Hospice is about $600,000 away from reaching its initial capital campaign goal of $4 million.
In an effort to further establish strong partnerships with companies throughout its service areas, Compass Regional Hospice has launched the Corporate Cares Partner Program.
Annual partnership levels range from $1,000 to $25,000 and include a variety of complimentary event sponsorship and recognition opportunities. The program also provides an opportunity for Compass Regional Hospice leadership to educate corporate employees about hospice care and grief support services offered by the organization.
