On Thursday, Feb 28th, at 10:30 am, Company co-founders Avra Sullivan and Chris Rogers will present a workshop on Meaning & Shakespeare’s Words at the Todd Performing Arts Center at Chesapeake College. The workshop is being presented in association with the Eastern Shore Learning Center and Suzanne Sanders. They have generously offered to allow us to share the presentation with a wider audience. The workshop is free and open to the public.
Shakespeare’s plays can be intimidating, especially when merely read. But they don’t have to be! This workshop will present a couple of famous scenes. It will develop the difference between, first, reading the text and hearing it, and then between hearing it and seeing it. It will illustrate how hearing the words adds clarity to their meaning, and how adding movement can enhance the text. If you’re interested, a PDF of the two scenes is available HERE.
