This fall, Continuum Dance will offer modern dance class opportunities for individuals of all dance levels—including those with no previous experience.

On Saturday, September 21, 2019 Continuum Dance will offer a public master class at the Perkins Family YMCA in St. Michaels. Beginning at 9am, the company’s Artistic Director Malley Hester will lead participants through a warm-up and modern dance class, and teach pieces of company choreography.

Following the master class, Continuum Dance will host open auditions for both apprentices and company members. Auditions, beginning at 11am, will include large and small group movements and dancers are expected to quickly learn and perform choreography. All audition choreography will be in the modern dance style. Dancers who offer an exceptional audition will be invited to join Continuum Dance for weekly rehearsals and upcoming performance opportunities.

Master class and auditions are open to adults and students, ages 12 and up. Some dance training is required, although individuals of all dance backgrounds and levels are encouraged to attend. Master class and audition fees are $15 each, with a $5 discount for participants attending both, and can be paid upon arrival with cash, check, or credit card. Dancers interested in auditioning are encouraged to also attend the master class.

For individuals with little to no dance experience, Continuum Dance will offer an open modern dance class on Saturday, October 12 for anyone looking to get moving and have fun. The class will take participants through the basic progressions of a modern dance class, while also providing experience and explanation for modern movement.

Beginning at 10am at the Perkins Family YMCA in St. Michaels, the 90-minute class is designed for adults. Students under the age of 16 should be accompanied by a participating adult. Class fees are $12 per person, with payment made upon arrival with cash, check, or credit card.

Current YMCA members are invited to attend the October 12 open class at no cost. Participants who are not YMCA members will be asked to sign a guest pass application upon arrival and show photo identification. For participants under the age of 18, a legal guardian must check in the participant with photo identification.

Advance registration for these events is encouraged at www.continuumdancecompany.org/upcoming-events/.

Continuum Dance extends a special thank you to the Perkins Family YMCA for hosting these events.
