Beginner Pottery Classes at the Rehoboth Art League

REHOBOTH BEACH, DE – Beginner hand building classes are a fool proof and friendly introduction to pottery making. It is a great way to build your confidence as you become immersed in making ceramics. The Rehoboth Art League is offering beginners two opportunities to learn pottery making. Each is geared for students with no clay experience or for those who have taken a class and would like to improve their skills.

The Art League is now offering a Saturday morning pottery class. February 8 through March 21, 2020 (no class on 3/14) from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the “Introduction to Ceramics” is being offered. All levels are welcome to this class. Students will make functional pieces as well as sculptures using various hand building techniques such as coil building, slab building and pinch pots. The class will explore surface design with underglazes and glazes. Each week a new project will be introduced. Creative ideas and experiments will be encouraged. The cost is $200 per person for members and $235 for non-members. The registration fee includes a $40 materials fee.

On Tuesday nights, February 26 through March 31 from 6:15 to 8:45 p.m. “Pottery for All Levels” is being offered. There will be an emphasis on hand building for beginners, working up to the pottery wheel. Intermediate students will receive additional guidance to advance their skill level. Lessons will cover basic construction techniques along with an introduction to glaze and surface treatments. The cost is $220 per person for members and $255 for non-members. The registration fee includes a $40 materials fee.
