Wye Mills – On April 18th at 7pm, the main stage at the Todd Performing Arts Center on the campus of Chesapeake College in Wye Mills will come alive with popular musical selections From Stage and Screen. Queen Anne’s Chorale will be performing songs from Lion King, La La Land, Les Miserables, Aladdin, along with many other songs from shows you know by heart. You will be tapping your feet and singing along as you enjoy your musical evening.

Robert Huntington is the Artistic Director and has been since 2003. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Towson University and holds a Masters of Music in Choral Conducting, with distinction, from Westminster Choir College of Rider University. “Spring is a time of joy and I believe this selection will multiply that feeling” stated Huntington. “Our singers have really enjoyed practicing and rehearsing together since September. I think this will be a very special concert”

As a special treat, the Chorale will feature soloist Thomas Beard. Considered a Lyric-Dramatic-Baritone, Thomas studied under the direction of Placido Domingo while part of the National Opera in Washington, D.C. He has also performed in operas in Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Jacksonville as well as touring oversees in Italy, Germany, Spain, Australia and New Zealand.
According to his website, thomasbeardbaritone.com, Mr. Beard has performed for numerous dignitaries, including the funeral of the mother of Civil rights movement, Rosa Parks, U.S. Senators, Governors and Ambassadors in many concerts at Embassies and concert halls across the country. He was also invited to perform as special guest soloist by former First Lady Laura Bush at an invitation only event at the White House.
A Select Ensemble and soloists will provide extra music that will make you smile. The audience will also be asked to sing along on several pieces. A punch and cookie reception will follow the performances.

Also, mark your calendars for our 2020/2021 season. The Holiday Concert will be December 5th and the Spring Concert will be April 17th. The Holiday Concert will transport you back in time for a nostalgic celebration while the Spring Concert will be Requiem by Gabriel Faure along with other works that focus on light and peace.
