The Garfield Center Streams The Arts is excited to announce the presentation NEVIN DAWSON: PLUGGED IN as its 6th weekly installment of Wednesday evening streaming performances. The presentation will begin on The Garfield Center’s Facebook page, starting at 7:30 PM, at facebook.com/garfieldcenterforthearts. Nevin will showcase the many facets of string instruments, moving seamlessly from classical to bluegrass to jazz to rock. Watch as he builds a one-man backup band on the spot with a looper pedal to play originals and arrangements, and look for a vocal number as well.

Nevin studied viola at Penn State University while earning a degree in Forestry and has played with many symphonies and chamber ensembles, including Pennsylvania Centre Orchestra, Canberra Symphony Orchestra, and the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra. He currently teaches violin, viola, and cello at Music Life in Chestertown, MD.

As a versatile player in many genres including classical, folk, and jazz, he plays with Shore Strings, the Dover Symphony, The Pam Ortiz Band, Harp & Soul, Front Porch Orchestra, and is featured on eight studio albums. He also performs solo shows featuring original music for electric violin and looper pedal, including introductory programs for the National Music Festival’s Fiddlesticks grade school education program. He is a member of the Red Devil Moon ensemble, a new musical selected to participate in the 2017 NYC Fringe Festival.

He lives in Chestertown, MD with his wife and son, and serves as Sustainable Agriculture Coordinator with University of Maryland Extension during the day.

More of Nevin’s work can be found on his YouTube Channel and on Bandcamp.
