Chestertown, MD – A young singer-songwriter from Greensboro, Music Theatre singers from Chestertown and Church Hill, a poetry reading from Chestertown, a standup comedian from Chicago, and a theatre scene from 2 sisters in Chestertown – these are all the performances online audiences will see when they tune in to The Garfield Center for the Arts’ Facebook page at 7:30 PM this Wednesday, May 20, 2020 for the first episode of GCTV Public Access.

‘Public Access’ was created as a way for local, or locally-connected, talent to showcase their performances on our GCTV programming. GCTV plans to make Public Access a semi-regular presentation in its online streaming

In this first Public Access installment, we feature local Music Theatre performers Shannon Whitaker (Chestertown), singing ‘Part Of Your World’ from “The Little Mermaid,” and Annie Sparks (Church Hill), singing ‘Memory’ from “Cats.” The GCA’s Theatre Manager, Nic Carter (Chestertown), will read the third poem by Robert W. Service to make it into our GCTV programs, this one titled “The Shooting of Dan McGrew.” Stevie Lyles is a 15 year-old singer-songwriter from Greensboro, Maryland, and she premieres her video for “I Don’t Want To” in the program. Riann Marchetti, a standup comic from Chicago who is quarantining with her family in Maple Lawn, Maryland, performs a comedy routine for the program. And Chestertown sisters Hester and Gretchen Sachse step into the interestingly absurd title characters in “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead” for a scene.

If you want to create and submit your own performance piece for a future GCTV Public Access presentation, send a proposal to gctvpa@garfieldcenter.org with a description of what you want to present and we will respond with video guidelines to get you started.
