Delmarva Scenes’ Photo of the Week – Easton Court House

Photo of the Week

Easton Court House
Easton, the county site of Talbot County on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, has been involved lately in controversy. In the early part of the 20th Century, there was a movement to install statues to those who fought for the Confederacy. The Talbot Boys statue was one of those.

For a number of years there has been cries to have it removed. This past Wednesday, August 12th, the Talbot County Commissioners voted 3-2 NOT to have it removed.

This photo, taken in 2019, is of the entrance to the Court House off of Washington Street. To the left you can see the Talbot Boys statue. If you look closely on the right is a statue of Frederick Douglass. Douglass was born in Talbot County as a slave.
