Ocean City, Maryland – The Delmarva Irish American Club (DIAC) has decided to cancel this year’s St. Patrick Day Parade in Ocean City. The parade, which has been taking place for more than four decades, has become a popular event in Ocean City and the unofficial kickoff to the spring season.

The club announced the postponement in a news release on Tuesday. “The health of our community is of the most importance, and in addition to that is the health and welfare of our participants is also paramount,” stated parade chairman Buck Mann.

Although disappointed, Town of Ocean City officials remain optimistic for future events in 2021. “This was the first event in 2020 that was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the DIAC, along with the Town of Ocean City, is hopeful that this will be the last event to be canceled,” commented Mayor Rick Meehan and President of the DIAC.

The DIAC has rescheduled the parade for March 12, 2022 to continue the long standing tradition. For more information, visit www.delmarvairish.org.
