DAYS OF BAGNOLD SUMMER – Opening at the Cinema Art Theater
Starting on February 19, 2021 the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present “Days of Bagnold Summer,” a charming comedy based on a critically acclaimed novel about single motherhood and Metallica.
Daniel was supposed to spend the summer with his father and new step-mother in Florida and when his dad cancels the trip Daniel and his mom suddenly face the prospect of six long weeks together. An epic war of wills ensues in their suburban home as Daniel just wants to listen to heavy metal and start a band while his mom hopes to rekindle the fun times they used to have together. The wonderful soundtrack features original songs by Scottish indie group Belle and Sebastian. [2019, UK, 86 min, Rated: PG-13].
Matthew Turner of “VODzilla.com” exclaims, “Utterly charming and blessed with a pair of terrific central performances, this is an extremely accomplished piece of work that marks Bird out as a director to watch.” Rich Cline of “Shadows on the Wall” comments, “Beautifully observed with attention to witty detail, this movie feels like a British movie sitcom, with its episodic structure and snappy comebacks.”

BLITHE SPIRIT – Opening at the Cinema Art Theater
Starting on February 19, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present “Blithe Spirit,” a romantic comedy about a married crime novelist that finds himself in a difficult predicament.
A spiritualist medium (Judy Dench) holds a séance for a writer (Dan Stevens) suffering from writer’s block but accidentally summons the spirit of his deceased first wife (Leslie Mann). This leads to an increasingly hilarious and complex love triangle with his current wife (Isla Fisher) of five years. [2020, UK, 95 min, Rated: PG-13].
Rich Cline of “Shadows on the Wall” says, “Broad and silly, this remake of the Noel Coward comedy is written and directed with plenty of spark.” Leslie Combemale of “AWFJ Women on Film” writes, “This frothy dark comedy offers an over-the-top Dan Stevens, visual eye candy, and likely just the right amount of ghostly haunts for those with pandemic fatigue.”
