Just a few hours before the final dress rehearsal in March 2020 the young cast of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Jr learned that Delaware had shut the state down to ‘flatten the curve’ during what was believed to be for a few weeks. Now over a year and a half later the sets that had been put into storage are now ready, the props dust off, and the costumes altered, since the the cast which was 7 to 17 are now two years older, the show will finally debut on September 17, 2021 at 7:30pm.

Most of the cast that began rehearsals in fall of 2019 have returned. A couple of slots had to be recast since they graduated High School and are now in College.

This Jr production is based on the West End Production of the movie that was based on a story by Ian Fleming, creator of James Bond, and features the score by the Sherman Brothers.

I was recently invited to see a preview of the show and I can say, even though the cast were wearing clear plastic face coverings which didn’t distract, the pieces I saw were performed flawlessly. A show that is sure entertain those of all ages. I was 10 years old when the movie came out and still have the childlike awe that I had then seeing familiar numbers on the stage. Me Ol’ Bamboo dance number will make one want to get up and dance.
