Harvest Festival
Saturday, Oct. 9, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., Handloff Park
The City of Newark Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting the Harvest Festival again this year at Handloff Park on Saturday, October 9 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Grab your friends and family for an afternoon full of fall fun with scarecrow making, games, crafts, local food vendors, inflatables and more! The rain date is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 10 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. The Parks on Draft originally scheduled to run with this event has been canceled.

Fall Frenzy Scavenger Hunt
Summer may be over, but that doesn’t mean that the fun is. October is the perfect time to get out on our trails and enjoy the crisp, cool weather. Take the whole family and find Newark Parks and Recreation’s Fall Frenzy Scavenger Hunt items! This hunt will take place October 11 through 18 on the trails on and around the Newark Reservoir (including Preston’s Playground and Redd Park). Check out the Newark Parks and Recreation’s Facebook Post to see what is hidden.

Fall Community Clean up
Saturday, Oct. 16, 9 – 11 a.m., Newark Municipal Building
Grab your family, friends, coworkers and neighbors to help keep Newark beautiful. Join us at the City of Newark Municipal Building on Saturday, October 16 from 9 – 11 a.m. Individuals and volunteer groups are welcome. Gloves and trash bags will be provided. Halloween Parade
Sunday, Oct. 24, 3 p.m., Main Street
Newark’s annual Halloween Parade is drawing near. Plan now to be a part of this special Halloween event, complete with marching bands, floats, antique automobiles, costumed characters and much more. The parade begins at Tyre Avenue and Main Street and marches west on Main Street, to College Avenue. Register to be a part of the parade at www.newarkde.gov/play.

Trick or Treat Main Street
Sunday, Oct. 24, 4 – 5 p.m.
Ghosts and goblins, fairies and princesses join in the fun of Trick or Treat Main Street. The event is paired with the Halloween Parade for twice the fun. There will be goodies from many stores and downtown businesses, and much more. Bring a camera and have your picture taken in the pumpkin patch. All municipal lots will offer free parking during the events. For the safety of the children, Main Street will remain closed throughout Trick or Treat Main Street. There is no rain date for this event.

Halloween Party at The GWC
Thursday, Oct. 28, 4 – 5:30 p.m., George Wilson Center
Boo! It’s time for our annual Halloween Costume Party at the George Wilson Center for ages 3 – 12. Join us for special Halloween crafts and activities, sweet refreshments, spooky storytelling, a mysterious costume contest and even a scary room to enter if you dare. Come on out for a ghostly good time and a lot of Halloween fun! Pre-registration is available but not required, pay $5 at the door.
