Great food, entertainment and one of Delaware’s best annual pyrotechnic shows will take place on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at the University of Delaware’s Athletic Complex. Beginning at 6 p.m., the event will feature live entertainment and art, food and community vendors, concluding with an amazing firework display at dusk.
Free parking is available in the University of Delaware Athletic Complex lots, including those surrounding the UD Stadium and Bob Carpenter Center, as well as the Woods Lot (off of Route 4) and the STAR Campus north and south parking lots.
Alcohol is not permitted during the event, and the community is asked to leave pets at home and be sure they are secured safely during the fireworks display, as the noise can frighten animals. Also, please note City offices will be closed on Monday, July 3. The rain date for fireworks and musical entertainment is Wednesday, July 5. Christmas in July Flea Market
Get a jump start on your holiday shopping and get into the Christmas spirit with our Christmas in July Flea Market! This merry event will provide the perfect opportunity to clean out and declutter your home as a vendor or find the perfect holiday treasures as a shopper! Direct sellers, crafters, antiquers, and repurposers are all welcome to provide a wide variety of available items in one location. The family friendly event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 22 from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. inside and outside of the George Wilson Center. Be on the lookout for Santa Claus who may fly through, he might just be getting a head start on his shopping too!
If you are interested in participating as a vendor, complete the registration form on our website at www.newarkde.gov/play by Monday, July 12. All vendors will receive a letter with directions for set up one week prior to the event. Vendor Registration fee is $35. The Newark resident discount fee is $30.
