The Rugged Old Court House

Photo of the Week Queen Anne's

Photo: BW - Queen Anne's County Court House
On June 14, 2019 The Old Queen Anne’s County Court House in Centreville, Maryland closed their doors as being the country’s Circuit Court House. The New Court House opened their doors on June 17, 2019.

The Old Court House had served the citizens of Queen Anne’s County since 1795, when the country’s first President George Washington was in office. At the time of its closing it was it was the oldest serving court house in Maryland and one of the oldest in the United State.

Prior to the Super Bowl in 2017, and again in 2019, the Court House was featured in the ‘Ragged Old Flag” tribute. The morning after its original showing as I passed through Centreville I stopped to capture this photo. I decided to make it Black & White as a way to honor the building’s use for 224 years.

Editor’s Note:
A number of years ago I had begun posting a Photo of the Week. Sometimes a photo that occurred that week, and sometimes a photo that sometime in the past. I don’t really know why it was discontinued. Regardless it’s time to bring it back. Look for the Photo of the week every Friday.

Thank You
