While the Queen Anne’s County Arts Council has been holding high teas for seven years, the eighth will be like nothing they’ve done before. Moving from its usual Winter time slot, straight into Summer, this will celebrate all the joys of the season. Held outdoors at a grand private home on the bay, the Garden Tea will be themed to flowers with special sponsorship from Murdoch Florists. A silent auction of five original paintings by local artists of note, will include work by Jonathan Shaw and Fern Beu. The event will feature live jazz from Michael Noonan throughout the afternoon.
Most important to any Arts Council Tea will, of course, be the food. Finger sandwiches will include cucumber on white bread, egg salad on honey wheat, roast beef on gluten free bread, salmon on rye, and strawberry bread with honey cream cheese. Delectable desserts will include scones with clotted cream and preserves, mini gluten free cupcakes, tarts, cheesecake cups, and in keeping with the garden theme, flower cookies. All food will be made by the talented and dedicated tea committee members. Due to the unique outdoor setting and June date, this year’s tea will be available both hot and iced, with a cash bar serving more adventurous guests.
As always, servers will be local men of note, including commissioners and the sheriff.
The tea will take place June 16th, from 3 pm to 5 pm, at Windward Manor at 301 Blue Bay Road in Stevensville.
