CENTREVILLE — The entire staff of Compass Regional Hospice is the most recent recipient of the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Hospice Caregivers Award. The staff was nominated by a patient’s family member to recognize their commitment to compassionate and personalized end‐of‐life care.
Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam hosted a special recognition breakfast for the Compass Regional Hospice staff during an all-staff meeting in July 2018.
Each staff member is committed to the mission of Compass Regional Hospice, which is to provide “Care on your terms” to individuals, families and the community through comprehensive, professional and compassionate end‐of‐life care and grief support.
The Hospice Caregivers Award nominator wrote, “Compass Regional Hospice is filled with some of the most kind, caring and wonderful people we have ever met. Without exception, everyone there was absolutely amazing, and made a truly horrible time in our lives much more bearable. From the moment our mother entered their facility (which felt more like home because of them) we could tell they all cared about her and her end of life experience from the bottom of their hearts. The tender way they treated her, and the kindness in their voices was not only a comfort to our mom, but an undeniable and true comfort to us. To all the people that make up Compass Regional (Hospice) please know how thankful we are. You will forever be a part of our ‘family.’”
The Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Hospice Caregivers Award is open to physicians, nurses, social workers, bereavement counselors, hospice aides, chaplains, administrative staff and volunteers of Compass Regional Hospice who care for patients in Queen Anne’s, Kent and Caroline counties. To nominate a hospice caregiver, contact Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 408 S. Liberty St., Centreville, at 410‐758‐1151 or info@fhnfuneralhome.com.
