EASTON, MD – Artist Aaron Taylor Kuffner, the Visionary Artist for the 2019 Academy Art Museum Craft Show to be held October 11 – 13, 2019, recently installed his Gamelatron: Body Phones project in the Museum’s frontyard in a work of art that combines Indonesian musical traditions with robotics and modernist sculpture. The sculpture will be on display through 2020.

Kuffner, an American born conceptual artist, based in New York, creates dynamic work that reaches far outside conventional forms of representation. His current display at the Academy Art Museum perfectly represents this year’s Academy Art Museum Craft Show theme, “Celebrating the Makers.” Kuffner’s work is collected worldwide. His recent exhibitions include the Venice Biennale, Times Square, Burning Man, and the Renwick Gallery in Washington, D.C.

Visionary Artist Aaron Taylor Kuffner will present an Artist Talk on Sunday, October 6 at 2 p.m. as part of the Museum’s Kittredge-Wilson Lecture Series. Kuffner’s Talk provides an excellent opportunity to meet this extraordinary artist/maker as we head into the week of the Craft Show, October 11 to 13.
