Delmarva Scenes Photo of the Week - Ice on the Bay

So far the winter of 2020 has been a fairly warm one. It really only has gotten cold this weekend and looking ahead it appears the warmer days are coming back.

This was not the case five years ago. The winter of 2015 was a cold one. Many days the temperature didn’t rise above single digits. Which was true during President’s Day weekend of that year. This photo was taken on one of those near 0 mornings at the beach in Rock Hall.

It was also a day that I remember well since after I finished shooting and returned to my car, turned the key in the ignition, the battery didn’t have enough juice to start the engine. Fortunately I was able to get in touch with a friend who gave me a jump start.

Ironically this happen after driving for close to 20 minutes to the beach. It started easily when I left. One would think that if it wouldn’t start, it would have been first thing, not after running for 20 minutes. It was almost a year and a half later that I put in a new battery.
