Halloween Party at the George Wilson Center

New Castle

Calling all ghosts, goblins and ghouls!

BOO! It’s time for our annual Halloween Costume Party for ages 3 – 12 at the George Wilson Center on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 4 – 5:30 p.m., social distancing style! We know Trick-or-Treating will likely be very different this year, so here is a fun alternative to get your kiddos into the Halloween spirit! Due to the latest Division of Public Health guidelines, the Halloween Party will be held outside only. Rain date will be Friday, October 23, 2020 same times.

Join us for spooky storytelling, a mysterious costume contest (costumes with masks or face coverings will receive extra points!) and Halloween activities including Pin the Hat on the Scarecrow, Zombie Limbo, Guess the Amount of Candy, Ghost Bowling, Witch-Craft Ring Toss, Pumpkin Smile Photo wall, and even a scary room maze to enter if you dare. Abrakadoodle is also providing a craft for you to take home!

Cloth face coverings must always be worn by adults and children. Costume contest winners will be announced via social media following the event. Pre-packaged bags of candy will be provided to all attendees. We can’t wait to see you for a ghostly good time!

Pre-registration for the Halloween Party at www.newarkde.gov.play is required by Wednesday, October 21 at 5 p.m.

The Costume Contest is part of the Fall Fun Family Activities on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 4 – 6:30 p.m. that combines a couple well-loved make and take projects including scarecrow making and pumpkin decorating in conjunction with the Halloween Party at the George Wilson Center. These activities will be held outside at the George Wilson Center. You are welcome to do just the fall related make and take projects without attending the party or make it a one stop shop and enjoy the party and activities all in one day! Rain date will be Friday, Oct. 23, same times.

Fall decorating can be such fun and these projects are the perfect way to start your fall and holiday decorating. These projects can be completed by groups of up to 6. Bring the whole crew to get creative together. Please wear clothing and shoes that can get dirty or marked. Bring a blanket or chair to add comfort to your project space. Participants must wear masks and will be spaced apart to allow social distancing from other groups. Prices are per project, not person. Scarecrow Making – $7/project and Pumpkin Decorating – $8/project.

Pre-registration is required for each by 10/19/20. Please select specific project times when registering. (4-5 p.m. or 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.) Spaces are limited for each activity. Register online at www.newarkde.gov/play.

For more information, please contact the Recreation Office at 302-366-7000 or register online at www.newarkde.gov/play.
