Chesapeake Country Roads 16-Month 2021-22 Wall Calendar Front coverEarly in 2021 Atkinson realized that for several years many of his photographs and photographic adventures were along the original Chesapeake Scenic Byway, Chesapeake City to the Bay Bridge. The “Chesapeake Country Roads 16-Month Calendar” was published in July with most of the photos being scenes that can be seen traveling these Country Roads.

After conversations with friends in Caroline and Dorchester County, he decided to publish a 2022 Mid-Shore edition. Nearly all of the photographs in this calendar were taken in 2020 or 2021.

Kent County in Pictures 2022 Calendar CoverLiving in Kent County, Maryland, Atkinson has published an “Kent County in Pictures” calendar for several years and after an unexpected break in 2021 brings it back for 2022.

Even though the use digital calendars for day-to-day scheduling is the norm, there is still a need for a wall calendar to hang in the office or in your home. Having one with comfortable everyday scenes you are familiar with can bring on great memories. It also would make for a great gift for someone who is now away from the area to have a little piece of the Chesapeake Country with them.

Since 2011 Steve Atkinson has been documenting the life and heritage of the Maryland Eastern Shore, North of Cambridge, and portions of Delaware through his photographs covering events and other activities. Since 2015 he has been working on a photographic project, Delmarva Scenes, which has him capturing the Usual, Unusual, Beautiful and Not So Pretty scenes on the Delmarva Peninsula. On the first Sunday in April, after the Federal Designation of the Chesapeake Country All-American Road, he had a “hit me like a ton of bricks” moment realizing that what he has been photographing the previous Chesapeake County National Byway, which run from Chesapeake City to the Bay Bridge.

His photographs can be seen on the ShoreToBeFun Facebook page and on Instagram or the Website for his Chesapeake Country Roads, ChesapeakeCountryRoads.com, photographic project.
