Eastern Shore Rabbit Rescue Competing for Grant

Kent, MD Non-Profit

The Animal Rescue Site and GreaterGood.org are giving away thousands in grants to eligible shelters across the country in a new Shelter Challenge contest, and Eastern Shore Rabbit Rescue and Education Center (ESRREC) is eligible to win.

The New Beginnings Shelter Challenge is a major contest that will give $100,000 in cash grants to eligible shelters that win the most votes in a variety of categories and photo contests. The coveted Grand Prize is a $25,000 grant to help animals, and there are over 50 other grant prizes ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 each. Every participating shelter has an individual contest page that visitors can share via social media, and where they can vote every day. Visitors can also register for an account to support their favorite shelter in other ways, get emailed notifications about new contests, and to become eligible for a Sweepstakes prize.

As of today, ESRREC ranked #3 out of all Maryland shelters, putting it within striking distance of a $1,000 grant. Established in 2015 as a small, volunteer-run organization to help abandoned pet rabbits find new homes, ESRREC recently celebrated its 80th adoption. ESRREC also offers educational seminars such as “Bunny Care Basics” to prepare adopters for adding a rabbit to their family.

“We hope that all the animal lovers in Rock Hall will vote for us every day until July 15,” said Cora Dickson, President and Founder of ESRREC. “We’d love to be #1 in Maryland and win a grant that helps the bunnies.”

Strong community support makes all the difference in Shelter Challenge contest, ensuring that all shelters, regardless of size and location, have a chance to win. To take part, visitors can go to the Shelter Challenge website (CLICK HERE) and vote for their favorite shelter every day.
