If you think that Christmas should be celebrated in the warmer weather, then come to Lewes, DE on July 3, 2018 and help kick-off the season of giving and togetherness early this year. Lewes Dairy is hosting its annual Christmas in July Promotion to help collect gifts for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots. The event will include a Kiddie K Race, competitive 5k Run, Family Race, and walkers competitions. Along with the healthy family and friends walk/run, Santa and his elves will be in attendance to hear early wishes from young and old. As you walk into Santa’s Workshop, sign up to be an Elf-in-training, visit Santa’s mailroom and write a special note to the big guy hosted by Sprint Quality Printing, stop by the bakery for some milk and cookies hosted by Sweeney’s Bakery, watch an elf getting toys ready for Santa, make an elf uniform in Santa’s tailor shop hosted by Unique Image, visit the Sugar Plum Fairies candy shop hosted by Olde Country Gardens, visit the Reindeer Barn, take in a Christmas story with Mrs. Claus, even make a gingerbread house, along with Santa’s Barber Shop and may more fun activities free of charge! There will be great food for the runners in the Elf Cafeteria hosted by Lloyd’s Market. Those over 21 may partake in some refreshing brew. For the young ones there will be face painting, balloons, sign making for the race, coloring books, and rubber balls just to name a few. And don’t forget to take your photo with Santa!
Voted Best New Race and Kid Friendly Event for 2017, the event will be held at the American Legion Post #17 located on 113 American Legion Road, Lewes, DE 19958. Registration opens at 7:00 AM and the Kiddie K starts at 7:45 AM with other running and walking events to follow at 8:00 AM.
Sherry Hastings, Marketing Director for the nearly 100 year-old Lewes Dairy says “Christmas in July is meant to be a family event. Lewes Dairy and its employees and family members believe in supporting our local communities and to giving back to those in need. The Marine Corps Toys for Tots provides toys to needy families in all three counties. Last year they helped over 3,000 children in the state.” Ms. Hastings invites everyone to come out and enjoy the fun and perform a good deed for those less fortunate by bringing a toy to donate. Don’t forget to wear something “seasonal.” There are tons of prizes to win!
The run/walk flat course is USATF certified with chip timing. Advance registration entrants receive a tee shirt. Awards go to overall male and female winners and masters male and female winners. Historic glass bottles from Lewes Dairy will go to the top three overall male and female finishers 9 and under to 80 and over as well as to the top three male and female walkers. Pre-registration for run/walk events is $25 until June 29th and after the cost is $30. Students pay $20 and $25. Non-running guests may attend after party for $10. On the day of the event, registration will begin at 7:00 AM.
