City of Newark and University of Delaware to host 15th Annual Taste of Newark

Festivals New Castle

Newark DE – Newark foodies and their friends will enjoy the best food and drink in Delaware at the 15th annual Taste of Newark. The premier food and beverage festival will take place on Sunday, September 30, from noon – 3 p.m. on Old College Lawn at the University of Delaware. An impressive list of more than three dozen vendors confirmed their attendance this year – including first-time attendees like The Crooked Hammock and Painted Stave.

“The selection of food and beverages at Taste of Newark reaches beyond our City limits, with vendors representing all three counties,” said Mayor Polly Sierer. “From the famous Courtyard Marriott crab cakes and UDairy Creamery ice cream to Dogfish Head beer and a selection of wines offered by Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits – there is something for everyone.”

The annual event features more than just food and drink. Guests can bid on dozens of items during a silent auction hosted by the Newark Arts Alliance. The auction includes items varying from hand-crafted wine goblets to an overnight stay at Dover Downs.

“We have a beautiful collection of artwork donated by local artists and lots of fun items from local businesses,” said Newark Arts Alliance executive director Linda Majewski. “The proceeds from the auction allow us to continue offering the many activities, programs, and events that bring the arts to our community.”

Along with the Newark Arts Alliance, Taste of Newark also supports students in the Department of Hospitality Business Management in the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased online. Tickets can also be purchased at the entrance the day of the event for $60 per person.
