As 2019 comes to a close it’s time to begin looking at what’s happening between the Bays in 2020. Here are 12 upcoming events to put on your 2020 calendar.
Winter is usually a quiet time on the Delmarva Peninsula. Some though are embracing the winter and there are two Fire and Ice Festivals coming up. There is the Fire & Ice Festival on January 23rd and 24th, 2020 in downtown Bethany Beach! A family-friendly weekend full of winter festivities, including an ice sculpture tour and live sculpture demonstration, ice skating rink, beach bonfire, and — of course — a seasonal stop at your favorite shops, restaurants, and businesses. Delmarva is in the Atlantic Flyway and many birds migrate to and pass through the area in the Spring and Fall. Every year in late Apri is the Spring Delmarva Birding weekend. This year it’s from April 23-26, 2019. Many events are held in Southern Delaware and on Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore. More info at delmarvabirding.com/
Beginning in May and running through the rest of the year there seems to be a big, popular event every weekend. One of the events that kicks off the season is the annual Dover Days Festival that is on May 2, 2020.

July the country celebrates Independence Day. Small town celebration are fantastic and one of the best Small Town 4th of July Celebration is at Rock Hall, Maryland. The fireworks kicks off the celebration on July 3rd and continue on the 4th with a community spirited Parade.
Caroline Summerfest is a free, family arts and entertainment festival that happens in August 21-22, 2020 in Denton, Maryland
Downtown Salisbury serves as the stage for the annual National Folk Festival on September 11-13, 2020. There are top musicians and dancers performing styles representing cultures from all over the globe. More info at nationalfolkfestival.com/
One wouldn’t think to put together Scrapple and Apple, the Delaware Town of Bridgeville celebrates two different parts of the local economy with the Apple/Scrapple Festival on October 9-10, 2020. More info at applescrapple.com/
A driver of the local economy in the fall is from waterfowl. Easton hold an Annual Waterfowl Festival in November. November 13-15, 2020 More info at www.waterfowlfestival.org/
The holidays are in full swing in December with many towns decorating for the season. A new tradition in Chestertown, MD is Dickens of a Weekend, when they party like it’s 1843 in the traditions of Victorian England and Dicken’s “A Christmas Carol”. While it’s not confirmed for 2020, with 3 successful ones under their belt, there’s a good chance there will be a 4th.
