REHOBOTH BEACH, DE – On Friday, April 3, 2020, from 5-7pm, The Rehoboth Art League will hold three openings for exhibitions on its historic Henlopen Acres campus. The Old and the New—Works by Aina Nergaard-Nammack, reflects a large collection of work, painted during different periods of the artist’s life, spanning decades. The year 2020 marks Ms. Nergaard-Nammack’s 90th birthday and over the course of a lifetime her style has fluctuated between representational and nonrepresentational. This exhibit illustrates her different approaches over the years and will include her first painting, a still life, painted at the age of twelve, as well as her abstracts, monochromatic paintings of figures, musically-inspired patterned pieces, and, among other things, her recent semi-representational works on canvases.
Pipes of Perception—Works by Tad Sare is an installation that utilizes drawings and video to explore the relationship between image and sound. Viewers take an animated journey along drawings of interlocking pipes and conduits as sound effects weave alternating narratives of the goings-on inside them. Tad Sare is an experimental animator and educator who uses the storytelling medium of animation to explore our understanding of perception, interpretation, and juxtaposition of sequential images. He employs hand-drawn techniques while collaging photographs, live action video, and sound elements digitally. Mr. Sare is the Program Chair for Animation at Delaware College of Art & Design, as well as a teaching artist at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
Micro / Macro—Works by Caitlin Gill explores the implicit and dysfunctional hierarchies that separate human from animal. Gill uses printmaking, sculpting, drawing, painting, collage and fiber to create artwork which explores ideas of identity, femininity and the divergence between human and animal. Caitlin Gill has a B.A in Drawing and Painting from Towson University and an MFA in Curatorial Practice and Art Criticism from the Ontario College of Art and Design. She currently works as the Program Manager and Artist Registry Coordinator for Maryland Art Place (MAP) in Baltimore.
All of these events are free and open to the public. The Rehoboth Art League is located at 12 Dodds Lane, in Henlopen Acres. Hours are 10:00am – 4:00pm Tuesday through Saturday and Sunday 12:00-4:00pm.
