Queen Anne’s Chorale is pleased to be moving forward with the fall semester, which will culminate in a one-hour, pre-recorded radio broadcast scheduled to air five times on 96.7 WCEI between December 14 through 25, 2020.

Be musically transported back in time for a nostalgic celebration of the holiday. Norman Rockwell paintings and lithographs by Currier & Ives will set the mood as Queen Anne’s Chorale presents seasonal favorites which reflect family, hearth and home. Some of the selections will include: Mele Kalikimaka, Family Christmas Medley, Winter Wonderland, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, I’ll Be Home for Christmas.

Since we cannot offer a regular concert at Chesapeake College and sell tickets, this nostalgic program of “Christmas Reflections” will also be a fund-raiser. (WCEI will be promoting it as well.) A few sing-along selections, singer testimonials, and “shout-outs” to acknowledge our sponsors and grantors will be included with the usual repertoire and narration.

In addition to Monday night sectional rehearsals via Zoom, we will also incorporate a brand-new, web-based app called “My Choral Coach”. MCC is a tool and NOT intended to replace in-person group choral singing. It will, however, serve as a substitute in many ways for now. This technology will help improve individual musicianship (especially in terms of pitch and rhythm).

An advantage to a virtual semester, distance is not an issue to participate! Singers will now need to register each semester and registration will be done on-line through our website (www.qachorale.org). The cost is $30.00 per semester and payment will also be received on the website. You must register by September 4 for the Fall semester and attend the Zoom meeting on Monday, September 14. Also, please have Google Chrome on your computer and/or tablet, along with headphones or earbuds.

We are grateful that the Queen Anne’s Chorale is supported in part through grants from the United Way of Queen Anne’s County, the Queen Anne’s County Centre for the Arts, and the Maryland State Arts Council, an agency dedicated to cultivating a vibrant cultural community where the arts thrive. Also, we would like to thank our Corporate Sponsors who continue to support the Chorale’s mission. Previous corporate sponsors are: Service Today, Acts Retirement-Life/Heron Point, Koons Toyota Easton, Chesapeake Hearing Centers, Soistman Family Dentistry, Liberty Technical Services and Shore Bancshares.
