Wheel Throwing I at the Rehoboth Art League

REHOBOTH BEACH, DE – February 2, 2021 – Release your inner artist and develop a new skill with the potter’s wheel. This is the perfect class to introduce yourself to wheel throwing. “Wheel Throwing I” at the Rehoboth Art League is a series of six classes scheduled Wednesday nights, February 17 through March 24 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Local potter Jeff Stickle will teach participants the techniques of throwing pottery on the wheel. They will discover the nature of clay, the pottery process as well as firing and glazing but this course is primarily hands-on working with clay. Everyone will learn and practice the basic skills of preparing the clay, centering on the wheel, coning up, opening and pulling up. With the skills learned, participants should have the knowledge and ability to progress to more challenging wheel projects. The cost is $180 per person for members and $215 per person for non-members. The registration fee includes the cost of clay as well as the glazing and firing of pieces. If you have ever thought that you would like to know how to make pottery on the wheel, this class will give you the basics of the wheel and develop a whole new area of expression for your creativity. Class size will be kept small so social distancing can take place. Masks must be worn.
