I live in Kent County and of all the places I’ve gone on the Delmarva Peninsula it’s where I learned my craft and taken the most photos. So when I decided to do Cards, it was a natural that one of my first sets would be of “Scenes of Kent County, MD”.
“Heron on the Rocks” is one of my favorite photos. And it can about in an unusual way. A few years ago at the Betterton Appreciation Day celebration, which happens on the first Saturday in August I was standing on the Rocks Pier taking a photo of people enjoying the beach. From my side vision I saw a shadow. I looked to see what it was, which happen to be the heron landing just a few feet from me. I was lucky that the speed boat and sail boat was in the background. As I often say; you can plan for a shot, but often the best ones just happen to show up.
